Anne Trujillo was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, lived in California, and moved to Littleton at the age of 10. Trujillo attended Mesa College in Grand Junction for a year then transferred to the University of Colorado at Boulder where she studied broadcast journalism. Trujillo worked part-time at KBNO while attending college. During the summers she visited Latin America. In the middle of her senior year, Trujillo applied for and was hired by KSTF in Scottsbluff, Nebraska where she was the news anchor, reporter, editor and more, six days a week.
