How much time do you spend in traffic? The average New Jersey commuter loses 45 hours a year to congestion. And predictions for the Route 1 corridor indicate that we will be spending even more time in congested roads in the future.

There are many causes of congestion growth in jobs, more single occupant automobiles, dispersed land use patterns, but few solutions. Adding more highway capacity helps, but not for long. Traditional transit solutions too often don't offer a viable alternative to the convenience and comfort of the automobile. Carpooling, flexible work hours and telecommuting all help, but can't do it alone. Clearly new solutions are needed.
