The menu includes such strikingly non-Teutonic fare as tempura chicken tenders and crab cakes, but Penn Brewery's heart is in the Vaterland. As an appetizer, the Gulaschsuppe was a chili-like concoction that was dense with chunks of tender beef and firm potato, and piquant with paprika. The roast pork - Schweinebraten - offered tender meat and a peppery layer of fat on the surface, but was a trace dry; the accompanying red cabbage fell on the sweet side. ...
