De Beers and the government of Botswana signed a series of agreements that secures the future of the diamond producer's four operations in that country. The agreements will commit De Beers to shipping most of its uncut diamonds through new diamond sorting facilities in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana.
The two will form Diamond Trading Co. Botswana, a 50-50 venture. It will take over all local diamond sorting, valuing and marketing activities of Dehswana Diamond. That company is equally owned by De Beers and the government. In ...
