New Delhi, Aug 15 -- India's 60th Independence Day was ushered in on a hazy and humid Tuesday. While most sat back and relaxed in their homes and indulged in social bonhomie and gossip, it was business as usual for the less privileged.

A drive through the capital's main, but empty thoroughfares was a treat. There was hardly any traffic, save for a few buses and cars, and signal-free passage to boot. One could not help but notice the contrast between the haves and the have nots.
