Article: SPINACH FESTIVAL CELEBRATES LENEXA'S EARLY CLAIM TO FAME

The city of Lenexa issued the following news release:

Each year, thousands of people from Lenexa and around the metropolitan area gather to celebrate the green leafy vegetable that brought Lenexa fame in the 1930s as the "Spinach Capital of the World," at the Spinach Festival and Arts, Antiques & Fine Crafts Show.

The Spinach Festival, which is presented by Time Warner Cable and co-sponsored by the Lenexa Historical Society, will feature more than a hundred art, fine craft and antique booths as well as fun activities including the spinach recipe contest, the World's Largest Spinach Salad, Popeye and Olive Oyl, games and children's activities, and of course, spinach ...
