As a business history, Covering Iowa breaks no new conceptual ground. It does, however, illustrate business strategies pursued by a family-owned newspaper that often put service to the public ahead of maximizing profits.
The book derives its title and focus from the Register and Tribune (R&T) Company's long-standing practice of treating the entire state as a source of news, a circulation area, and a market for advertisers. Three ...
