Until I had the course on public policy, I had no idea of the impact that nurses had on public policy and even less idea of the impact that public policy has on health care. The course has allowed me to develop a voice in my community and my workplace. The course gave me a more global sense of nursing and political activism. It also reintroduced me to the political system of our country and taught me about the inner workings of that system. I think one of the most important outcomes was that it gave me nursing role models. Very seldom do nurses see nursing figures who have worked to create a better nursing future. This course showed me nurses both past and present that I could look up to.
