Article: RENO FIREFIGHTERS TO HOLD 'BOOT DRIVE CAR WASH' FOR DONATIONS TO MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY ASSOCIATION

The city of Reno issued the following news release:

Reno firefighters will participate in the annual Boot Drive for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) this weekend by holding a Boot Drive Car Wash in the Corporate Point parking lot across from Meadowood Mall, a departure from the tradition of firefighters with boots seeking donations from drivers at stop lights in major intersections over the Labor Day weekend.

The change was made as a result of a Las Vegas firefighter being nearly killed by a drunk driver while participating in last year's fundraising activity in that city.
