The West Virginia Secretary of State issued the following news release:

Secretary of State Betty Ireland today offered her immediate assistance to Morgan County Commission President Glen R. Stotler following word of the destruction of the Morgan County Courthouse by fire early this morning.

"I have spoken with Commissioner Stotler and assured him my office stands ready to assist him to insure that Morgan County is able to conduct a successful General Election in November," Secretary Ireland said. "At this point, the condition of the electronic voting equipment and the paper voting records stored in the courthouse is unknown."
