Article: Minimum wage increase gains strength nationally

Advocates for an increase in the Ohio minimum wage now have a little more than two weeks to get the more than 332,000 signatures that will be needed to put the measure on the statewide ballot in November.

But if their counterparts in other states are any indication, the coalition of labor and community activists that are pushing to "give America a pay increase" will not have any problem finding the signatures to raise Ohio's minimum wage to $6.85 per hour, and index it to inflation.

Ohio is part of a move that is running across the nation to lift the wages of the lowest-income citizens, said advocates in a recent conference call.
