Madurai, Aug 26 -- With the launch of the 'Postman Akshya' scheme, which enjoins postal department employees to deliver loan products at your doorstep, the image of a the average postman is set for an uplift.

Traditionally known to move on bicycles, delivering letters and money orders, the postman, would be graduated to motorcycles.

Postmen would have an additional source of income through the commission he gets for the sale of loan products. The commission will vary from Rs 50 to Rs 300 for sale of each loan product.
