Trade shows come by their names honestly. Companies often discover that marketing their products in such a fashion is a trade-off.
What companies often trade, whether big or small, are serious dollars to either maintain their status in their respective industry or to spring board their company to the fore front of the market.
And while companies may not do a lot of business at a trade show -- many will say they don't even go expecting to write any orders -- those who use them say it is an indispensable time do some self- analysis of their company and their industry by spotting trends and further defining their product line.
