Article: Isle Air Guard puts lives on hold to help victims

Colin and Shelly Madrid spent their third wedding anniversary at Hickam Air Force Base getting ready to travel to Indonesia last night.

"I almost forgot," Shelly Madrid said about the special day. With four children to worry about, and the impending trip, there were too many other things to think about.

"But what a way to spend an anniversary," said Colin Madrid. "I get to take my wife to an exotic place."

For the next 45 days, and possibly longer, the couple will be part of the massive humanitarian relief effort under way in South Asia for victims of the Dec. 26 earthquake and tsunamis. The two will join the 1,402 military personnel already on the ground, with 127 in Indonesia.
