Paintings done by the palm of a Honolulu artist's hand, sold out. Aromatic coffee from Kauai lured even noncoffee lovers. Macadamia nut toffee samples disappeared, tray after tray. Hawaiian pillows were bagged like trophies.
Made-in-Hawaii goods are hot, judging by the 25,000 who sampled native products this weekend at the Made-in-Hawaii Festival in the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.
"I think it's a great idea to buy made-in-Hawaii," said Diane Moceri, 64, of Honolulu, struggling with her load of Hawaiian pillows, coffee and a purple Waianae orchid. "People want to see Hawaiian products and feel they are in Hawaii."
