Linda Cabrera credits the fast fading old Key West as her inspiration to preserve childhood memories on canvas. Familiar places such as Dennis Pharmacy, Blue Heaven and Blossom's are included in her first public art show featured at the Key West Art Center, 301 Front St., Wednesday, Aug. 2 through Tuesday, Aug. 15.
"When I returned home two years ago, I was shocked to see so many of my favorite hang outs gone. Although I had been painting for many years, there was an urgency to capture my special memories of Key West in my painting" says Cabrera.
She has worked in a variety of mediums, including pencil, pen and ink, and acrylic but primarily uses oil as her medium of choice. She paints on ...
