Auburn University issued the following news release:
Auburn University's "Auburn Through The Years" lecture series, created for AU's 150th anniversary year and featuring highlights of its history, will continue Sept. 12 with talks by Martin Olliff and Harold A. Franklin on desegration at Auburn.
The "Auburn University Desegregates" lecture is at 4 p.m. in the Special Collections Room of AU's Ralph B. Draughon Library.
Franklin enrolled at AU in 1964 as the university's first African American student. His action was a defining moment in the history of the university as it grappled with the tensions of pro- and anti-segregation sentiments.
