GUWAHATI, Sept 9 -- Conservation of the famed archaeological ruins at Sri Suryapahar in Goalpara is facing a serious threat. Indications are there that the Government of India agency Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which is now engaged in conservation and developing the site, may leave it if the present situation persists.

ASI sources here said that it has become increasingly tough for the agency to carry on its activities at the site. Serious obstructions are faced by the staff members and the officials of the agency these days from a section of the people and the local administration is also seemed to be maintaining ...
