The third meeting of the INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing was held in the Hague on May 6-7, 1996. The Working Group has 21 members of which 15 were present. Under the chairmanship of Mrs. Saskia J. Sruveling, member of the Board of the Netherlands Court of Audit, the Working Group discussed activities to be undertaken in the period between the Cairo Congress in 1995 and the montevideo Congress in 1998. Two documents formed the basis for the discussions: the "Terms of Reference of the Working Group" and the "Cairo Statement," which contained recommendations for further development by the Working Group.
