Article: Community banks are their own toughest competitors

Community banks are aggressively courting business customers, expanding sources of income and grappling with a shortage of qualified employees, according to a new joint survey by the American Bankers Association (ABA) and the ABA Banking Journal.

The survey compiles the views of top management at 921 community banks across the country and offers benchmark data on business banking, noninterest income, human resources, funding, technology and trust banking.
