Gov. Dave Heineman, R-Neb., issued the following press release:
Gov. Dave Heineman today declared a state disaster in Butler County following a series of overnight storms that damaged rural properties in the Village of Surprise, Neb., as well as in other parts of Butler County.
Strong winds from a wide band of heavy thunderstorms caused damage to homes and other structures, and left a large area without power and communications, according to Butler County Emergency Manager Rick Schneider. A house-to-house search revealed no injuries.
