Pocahontas and Aladdin have already proven their salt as the stars of must-have video collectibles. Now Tom Cruise is vying for a place on the shelves of the nation's home video libraries.
And if videos featuring flesh-and-blood actors don't yet pack the same sort of consumer punch as those starring big-eyed Disney heroes, film distributors and retailers nationwide are nonetheless enjoying a sharp upswing in home video sales.
Fueled by growing consumer interest in video ownership, industry revenues rose to more than $8 billion last year, up 17 percent over the 1995 industry total.
