Gov. Sonny Perdue announced today that Georgia's high school graduation rate has surpassed 70 percent for the first time in state history - jumping nearly eight percentage points since 2003. This year the state of Georgia had an official high school graduation rate of 70.8 percent, an increase of 7.5 percentage points.

"The state of Georgia has increased our investment in education by $1 billion since 2003, and simultaneously we are seeing a significant increase in our graduation rate," said Governor Sonny Perdue.
