Article: CITY OF VALDOSTA AGAIN DECREASES MILLAGE RATE

The city of Valdosta issued the following press release:

The City of Valdosta announced today that they are lowering the millage rate for the seventh time in the last 13 years. The Valdosta City Council adopted the decreased rate of 4.40 mills from last year's 4.41 mills at a special called City Council meeting. The millage rate decrease means that property owners will either see a decrease in their property taxes or no increase on the city of Valdosta portion of their tax bill.

The taxpayer bill of rights passed several years ago requires three public hearings to raise the millage rate or to keep growth in the digest due to re-valuation of property. Since that time, the City of Valdosta ...
