Article: STATE HEALTH OFFICIALS SAYS SPINACH STILL SUSPECT

The Montana Department of Health and Human Services issued the following news release:

A Seattle firm has voluntarily recalled spinach products that it distributes in Montana, prompting state health officials Tuesday to recommend that residents continue to keep all fresh spinach off the menu for awhile longer.

"We advise consumers to avoid eating fresh spinach and products containing fresh spinach until an ongoing investigation by the federal Food and Drug Administration is completed," said Janet Stetzer, head of the Food and Consumer Safety Section of the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services. "That's the only way to ensure that there is no risk of illness."
