Rep. Michael C. Burgess, R-Texas (26th CD), issued the following press release:

On May 10, 2006, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 4902, Rep. Michael C. Burgess' bill to award Byron Nelson the Congressional Gold Medal. Today, the U.S. Senate passed S.2491, Sen. John Cornyn of Texas' version of the bill. Now, the will now be sent to President George W. Bush for his signature for it to become law.

The following statement may be attributed to Congressman Michael C. Burgess on the Senate passage of the bill to award Byron Nelson the Congressional Gold Medal:
