Article: LT. GOV. FOGARTY: BUSH ADMINISTRATION HOMELAND SECURITY CUTS ARE DETRIMENTAL TO RHODE ISLAND

Lt. Gov. Charles. J. Fogarty, D-R.I., issued the following statement:

Today Lt. Gov. Fogarty reiterated his frustration with the drastic cuts in funding for homeland security initiatives in Rhode Island.

He stated, "Homeland security starts at home. In spite of all the talk of the war on terror, the Bush Administration has failed to step up with the necessary funds.

As Chairman of the Emergency Management Advisory Council, it is disconcerting to see that some cities and towns will not have the adequate resources to improve their emergency preparedness efforts. We are in the middle of the densely populated northeastern corridor between Boston and New York, yet we are receiving fewer funds ...
