Gov. Matt Blunt, R-Mo., issued the following press release:

Gov. Matt Blunt has appointed Deron Cherry (R) to the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority.

Cherry, of Kansas City, is the managing general partner of United Beverage Company. Cherry played for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1981 through 1992. He was inducted into the Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame in 1995. Cherry holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Rutgers University.
