WASHINGTON, Oct. 5 -- Sen. Daniel K. Akaka, D-Hawaii, has introduced the Intelligence Community Audit Act of 2006 (S. 3968), legislation that would "reaffirm the authority of the Comptroller General to audit and evaluate the programs, activities, and financial transactions of the intelligence community."
The bill, introduced on Sept. 28, was co-sponsored by Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg, D-New Jersey. It was referred to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
