WASHINGTON, Oct. 6 -- Rep. Bennie G. Thompson, D-Mississippi, has introduced the Intelligence Community Audit Act of 2006 (H.R. 6252), legislation that would "reaffirm the authority of the Comptroller General to audit and evaluate the programs, activities, and financial transactions of the intelligence community."
The bill, introduced on Sept. 28, was co-sponsored by Reps. Zoe Lofgren, D-California; Peter DeFazio, D-Oregon; Del. Donna M. Christensen, D-Virgin Islands; Reps. Ed Markey, D-Massachusetts; Bill Pascrell, D-New Jersey; Kendrick B. Meek, D-Florida; Sheila Jackson-Lee, D-Texas; and Nita M. Lowey, D-New York.
