Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, member of the House Page Board, today issued the following statement regarding the Mark Foley situation:

"I first learned of the situation regarding Mark Foley from press reports on Thursday, and was contacted by Rep. Shimkus for the first time on Friday afternoon. Prior to my conversation with Mr. Shimkus on Friday, I had not been consulted on this matter by anyone.

"As a member of the Page Board - and more importantly as a mother - I am appalled by Mark Foley's despicable conduct and hope that his actions be held accountable by the full weight of our justice system.
