Article: HISTORIC FIRE BELL TO TOLL FOR RENO FIREFIGHTERS

The city of Reno issued the following news release:

A bell that was used to sound the alarm of fire in Reno for decades, will toll Thursday morning as retired Reno firefighters who have passed away over the past three years are memorialized in ceremonies at the Reno Firefighters Memorial at Reno Fire Station No. 1 at 200 Evans Avenue.

The brief ceremony is being held as part of the Reno Fire Department's observance of National Fire Prevention Week, October 8-15.

The ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will include the presentation of colors by the Reno Fire Department Honor Guard, a prayer by Reno Fire Department Chaplain Stephen Arvin, and reading of the names of 14 Reno firefighters ...
