Article: Better cell service may aid warnings to Gull Lake area

COTTAGERS and residents in the Gull Lake area are going to get much better cellular phone coverage by the end of the year, something that might have given them more warning of the deadly Aug. 5 tornado.

The first tornado warning was issued that night at 5:44 p.m., 25 minutes after a tornado had already touched down at Gull Lake. Unlike other places, including Alberta, Manitoba has no province-wide public warning in place to warn of a natural disaster.
