Washington, Oct 17 -- Classic horror movie 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' has been named the scariest slasher movie of all time.

The 1984 film featuring demonic killer Freddy Krueger, who escapes from a dream to kill in real life was directed by Wes Craven.

The online poll of Yahoo! Entertainment readers put the 2004 film 'Saw' in second place, followed by classic shocker 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' (1974).
