Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas, issued the following press release:
Gov. Rick Perry has announced the award of $508,809 in grants to 53 Crime Stoppers programs across Texas. These grants are awarded under the state Crime Stoppers Assistance Fund and are distributed by the Governor's Criminal Justice Division (CJD).
"Texans in every community benefit from these organizations," Perry said. "By strengthening the resources and tools available to Crime Stoppers programs, we raise public awareness, reduce crime and increase safety."
