Human Rights Watch issued the following news release:
The New Jersey Supreme Court's ruling today that the state must extend the full rights of marriage to same-sex couples is a victory for human rights and equality, Human Rights Watch said.
Human Rights Watch called on New Jersey lawmakers to give the full status of marriage to those couples, rather than devise a separate-but-unequal solution of "civil unions." In a 7-0 decision, the state Supreme Court held that all rights and benefits of marriage must be accorded to same-sex couples.
