In the wake of the controversy surrounding Straya Restaurant on St. Charles Avenue, the City Council is expected to act on a motion approving a Lower St. Charles Avenue Design Review District.
The council has three months to approve the proposal, which will grant the City Planning Commission the authority to review new construction and redevelopment projects on lower St. Charles Avenue. The Design Review District aims to preserve the architectural heritage of St. Charles Avenue between Jackson Avenue and Lee Circle.
