"DOES it look funny to have one leg on and one leg off?" wonders Tara Hos. The Calgary mother of two isn't referring to her own limbs. She talking about furniture legs, and how they should be positioned atop an area rug.

As it turns out, her burning decorating question -- how large an area rug should be for various rooms in the house -- is a prevalent point of confusion for homeowners.

"It's a common question that gets asked all the time," confirms designer Jacqueline Corea of Corea Sotropa Interior Design.
