Article: LAGUARDIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE BEGINS FIRST PHASE OF MAJOR ASTHMA PREVENTION PROJECT

The City University of New York issued the following news release:

With an estimated one million adults and children in New York City suffering from asthma, LaGuardia Community College is taking the lead in addressing this serious health issue by conducting a major asthma home assessment and prevention project in Queens and Parkchester in the Bronx.

Through a $248,000 three-year Environmental Protection Administration grant, college faculty members have trained allied health majors to conduct in-depth, home surveys of some 300 family members who suffer from this chronic disease and to teach them how to eliminate harmful 'asthma triggers.'
