The Department of Veterans Affairs' Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center issued the following press release:

It is going to be a busy week for Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Miss United States Kayla Downs. Both have agreed to be Celebrity Grand Marshals for the 10th annual VA Veterans Day Parade, to be held on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 11 a.m.

Sgt. Joe Arpaio served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953. He joined the service on his eighteenth birthday, the day the Korean War broke out. While his unit was assigned to France for the duration of the war, Arpaio credits his military service with giving him the knowledge, experience and discipline that helped him throughout his career in ...
