ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 15 -- John Ofcharsky of Olyphant, Pa., and Thomas J. Gretz of Clarks Summit, Pa., have developed an L-shaped mounting assembly for securing a device, such as a ceiling fan, light fixture.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, the invention relates to a "prepackaged mounting assembly for securing a device, such as a ceiling fan, light fixture, or similar device to an overhead beam. The mounting assembly includes an L-shaped mounting box that includes a large side wiring cavity and an integral flange portion.
