Article: SENS. COLLINS, LIEBERMAN EXPRESS CONCERN ON DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY SITUATIONAL AWARENESS DEFICIENCIES

The office of Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman, D-Conn., issued the following press release:

In a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, Sens. Susan Collins, R-Me., and Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., expressed concern that, one year after Hurricane Katrina, the Department seems to have made insufficient progress in improving situational awareness during disaster response. The Senators are looking into whether the solutions that have been implemented were ineffectively introduced, under-utilized, and or may lack the necessary protocols to develop accurate situational awareness reports.
