Article: Potential Buyers Show Interest in Mittal Weirton Operations

Several potential buyers have toured Mittal's Weirton operation in anticipation of the company being forced to sell the plant to resolve antitrust issues clouding its merger with Arcelor, but Independent Steelworkers Union President Mark Glyptis isn't saying who they are.

Earlier this week the three-man foundation holding Arcelor's shares in Dofasco, a Canadian tin plate producer, decided not to dissolve the trust, despite requests that it do so from the boards of directors of both Arcelor and Mittal.

That leaves the U.S. Department of Justice to decide whether to continue to pressure the foundation, known as a stichting, to dissolve or force the sale of one of the new company's other tin ...
