Community college professors are satisfied with their career choice and their jobs. They find teaching to be fulfilling and feel that their work adds meaning to life.
So say the results of the latest faculty survey from the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI), reported in The American College Teacher: National Norms for the 2004-2005 Faculty Survey, which sheds new light on the attitudes of full-time faculty toward the profession, including educational goals, pedagogical practices, academic preparation, and other issues.
An overwhelming 81.5 percent of two-year faculty members reported overall job satisfaction while 72.7 responded that they feel "joy" in their work.
