Article: New Jersey, California Inventors Develop Tape Ribbon Cartridge

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 25 -- Scott T. Forest of Hope, N.J., Albert Van Grouw III of North Haledon, N.J., and Armando Lopez of Santa Ana, Calif., have developed a tape ribbon cartridge and a method for regulating printer operation of a printer operative to transmit a download signal.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The cartridge includes a housing, an ink ribbon, and a data communication component. The ink ribbon is disposed within the housing. The data communication component is disposed upon the housing and includes operational information being representative of at least one attribute of the ink ribbon."
