Dakota Skies Biodiesel on August 18 broke ground for a new biodiesel plant in Minot, North Dakota, USA. The $75 million facility will consist of five buildings and is to be known as Magic City Biodiesel LLC. When completed in late summer 2007, expectations are for a yearly production of 30 million gallons of biodiesel.

Canola is to be the feedstock for the biodiesel production, but local supplies are expected to be stretched by the opening of ADM's biodiesel plant in Velva, North Dakota, with a projected requirement of 700,000 metric tons (MT).
