Bill Extends Mandate of Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction
In order to help the people of Iraq, the United States has contributed $34 billion for reconstruction projects. About 33 percent of these funds have been directed to infrastructure projects, such as roads, sanitation, electric power, and oil production. About 40 percent of funds are being used to train and equip Iraqi Security Forces. The remaining 27 percent of funds are dedicated to programs to advise the Iraqi government, establish business centers, rehabilitate schools and health clinics, provide school books and vaccinations, to name a few.
