Advance your career by implementing several quality principles.

IN THE PAST, EMPLOYEES COULD LOOK TO ONE organization for career stability and advancement. My grandfather, for example, spent more than 30 years with one railroad company, working his way up into a management position before retiring at age 65.

Although common in past generations, this career pattern is now atypical. More often, employees work for several companies throughout their careers. For example, I worked for a large nonprofit research organization, two multinational corporations, and a small religious nonprofit organization. I have also worked as an entrepreneur, running a small business from my home.
