NEW YORK -- Pressure built Tuesday for the Canadian government to rule on artery-clogging trans fats as New York became the first city in North America to ban trans fats from its restaurants.
Federal Health Minister Tony Clement has been pondering since June a report calling for trans fats to be eliminated from foodstuffs in Canada over four years, but advocates say the New York ruling shows he could be moving more quickly.
