Article: SUCI strike in Kolkata evokes mixed response

Kolkata/Singur, Dec 5 -- The 24-hour strike called by the Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) to protest against police action on farmers in Singur, evoked mixed response on Tuesday.

Shops and educational institutions in some parts of the city were closed, but vehicular traffic on roads continued, though the number was lesser than normal.

Metro and train services were operating normally despite efforts to disrupt them by the bandh supporters.

Flight service was also normal at the NSC Bose International Airport.
